Lightning Seeds - Sense

Sense
Ian Broudie/Terry Hall

I’m flying high on something beautiful and aimless,
it’s got a name but I prefer to call it nameless.
It comes and goes leaves me on a bed of splinters,
feels like I’m living in a town closed down for winter.

The taste of Love,
the more you get, the more you want,
and all because,
the only reason is just because.
It all makes Sense,
when you’re near
it all makes Sense.

I’m standing high on tiptoes looking over fences,
waiting for somebody like you to kiss me Senseless.
I’ve had a bellyfull of faces drawn in sadness,
I want to jump deep into tides of loving madness.

my fuchsias have some big berries on when is the best time to sow the seeds and how do i keep them over winter?

In order to keep fuchsias over winter, gradually taper off watering in October and November. The soil should not become bone dry or dusty in winter, but should be watered only occasionally during the plant’s rest period

The Rose - Bette Midler

From Divine Madness

Some say love, it is a river
that drowns the tender reed.
Some say love, it is a razor
that leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love, it is a hunger,
an endless aching need.
I say love, it is a flower,
and you it’s only seed.

It’s the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance.
It’s the dream afraid of waking
that never takes the chance.
It’s the one who won’t be taken,
who cannot seem to give,
and the soul afraid of dyin’
that never learns to live.

When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been to long,
and you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong,
just remember in the winter
far beneath the winter snows
lies the seed that with the sun’s love
in the spring becomes the rose.

Why do my hamsters only eat sunflower seeds?

I have two Winter White Dwarf Hamsters. I feed them Nutriphase Gold for hamsters/gerbils. It has a variety of different foods in it, including sunflower seeds. My hamsters seem to only eat the sunflower seeds! Sometimes I take something else from the bag and stick it in their mouths but the spit it out and get a seed! What is wrong here?

I have two winter white hamsters too and I faced the same trouble with them. They used to eat only sunflower seeds and leave the rest of the food. It is their version of KFC and can make them fat and unhealthy since sunflower seeds have a lot of fat in them. Slowly I have turned around their eating habits in the following way -

Firstly, I picked out all sunflower seeds from their commercial food mix which I put in their cages. My hamsters were agitated for a few days over this, they used to dig the whole cage looking for seeds but after a week they got over this habit.

During the week when they were agitated without their seeds, I put in lots of other treats in their cage like small bits of cheese, cornflakes, carrots and rice crispies to distract them from their seeds.

My playtime with them is an hour in the night and during this time, I used to give them the sunflower seeds as treats from my hand (not more than 5 seeds a day)

Slowly but surely, after two weeks, my hammies had gotten over their habit of eating only seeds and had started eating other food as well. They now associate seeds only with playtime.

Hope this helps! Remember they are also like us who take to junk food so be very patient with them until they learn to eat other food too.

can i buy hawaiian baby Woodrose or morning glory seeds at walmart durring the winter?

I know why you want them; be aware store-bought seeds of all these types are treated with chemicals to induce vomiting. You'd have to grow your own.

How do I trick seeds into thinking they’ve been though winter?

I am starting various seeds from peppers to trees, including vegetables, berries, fruit, etc.

Should I trick them into thinking they’ve been though a frost?
1.Fridge or Freezer?
2.How long?
3.What should I put them in?
4.What else can I add to help?
5.What about moisture, water, ice?

I had asked a question on Yahoo a week ago, but it was too complicated and I didn't get the answer I needed, so I broke it up this time to make it more simple. It's costing me an extra 30 points, but I need these answers that badly. So please help.

3.What should I put them in? In dry bags

How do i germinate passion flower (passiflora caerulea) seeds?

It says that i should start the seeds 10-15 weeks before the last frost and they should be soaked for 24 hours and prechilled before seeding. They also say that they are perrennials and they are hardy in zone 5, and i should bring them indoors for winter. I live in zone 5. I don't get that if they are perrennials and they are hardy in zone 5 why should i bring them in for winter?

There are ways to improve the keeping qualities of passiflora seed but, in general, it is best to use fresh seed which germinates readily. Seed that has been stored for any length of time can take up to 12 months to germinate with less than 2 per cent chance of success.

To improve germination, lightly sandpaper the seeds on one or both sides using fine sandpaper, then soak them in tepid water for 24 hours. Sow 2-5mm deep in peat or soil based seed compost. Temperature is probably the most important factor in germination, ideally at 20 degrees C (68F) for 16 hours and 30 degrees C (86F) for 8 hours each day. If this is not possible, then a constant temperature of 26 degrees C (79F) is advisable. Using this technique fresh seed germinates in two to four weeks and older seed in four to eight weeks, but 12 to 48 weeks is not exceptional.

Having germinated your seed and over wintered your young plants, your next goal is to get them flowering. As we know only to well, many plants grown from seed can take years to flower. Passion flowers are no exception. Some species are said not to flower until they are 10 or 20 years old. I don't believe this, but have had some passion flowers that have not flowered for eight years. If you have grown P.caerulea from seed and found it reluctant to flower - sorry! Some seedlings never do.

Although Passion flowers are considered hardy in USDA zones 5-9, they should be planted in a protected location and mulched heavily if severe cold threatens. The top growth is killed back by frost, but 'pops' back to life in the Spring.

Erik Boyd - The Doomed Seed

this track is the first fully produced and written by me. no samples in the beat, no ghostwritten lyrics, just a poem and i beat that i did myself with a pen, paper, Pro Tools, Logic, and a Korg keyboard. as usual, here are the lyrics. in fact, as it is a poem and there is no chorus, here it is in poem form:

The Doomed Seed

Within this soil was planted a seed,
A seed that was to grow,
And grow it did — it did indeed,
It grew beyond our wildest dreams.
From bud to bush with roses of red,
but upon closer view thorns adorned their stems.
And so it grew and did not cease,
Until it grew beyond it’s garden,
And stole into it’s neighbor’s soil,
And took it’s place without a pardon.

As time went on more thorns arose,
And the buds began to wither,
And the red shade of each rose,
Changed to violet as they closed,
But the bushes grew and grew,
Though much too large and quite askew.
It weathered winters far too cold,
And summers far too hot,
And though others endured
They were but a small lot.

Now it is winter again,
But this time it is colder,
And the storms have yet to subside,
And it’s branches have brittled as it’s gotten older.
Others will perish unless with haste,
A new seed is planted in it’s place.
So long past this winter,
Upon the vernal equinox,
A new seed must be planted
Among this teeming rot.
